Hotel Appalachia

Hotel Appalachia is the creative studio of Nic Farley.

Nic grew up in the suburbs of Alabama, but his heart was somewhere else entirely-half in the city lights, half in the backwoods glow of something older and more true. He longed for what the city brought: people, energy, the hum of something becoming. But just as much, he longed for what only rural, Bible Belt America could give: front porch evenings, country fish frys in folding chairs, stories told with your hands, and a kind of faith that felt more like soil than sermon. That tension —between the world that raised him and the one his spirit craved -became the fertile ground where Hotel Appalachia grew.

His grandfather kept a homegrown museum: relics of World War II, pocket knives with stories, Civil War journals, and shelves of Appalachian wisdom only Foxfire could bring. His mama carried it forward, collecting Pigeon Forge Pottery like sacred scripture. Nic wandered west as a boy and again as a man-eating fry bread at Four Corners, standing wide-eyed at the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde, sleeping under desert skies of New Mexico in the back of a CRV, letting the silence of Joshua Tree teach him how to listen. These moments weren't just memories. They were breadcrumbs. Clues that remembering isn't about looking back-it's about coming home.

Hotel Appalachia is for the ones who feel in-between. For the Bible Belt dreamers, the hillbilly poets, the dirtbag wanderers, and the quiet keepers of sacred things. It's for those who never quite fit the mold but carry the story anyway. For the ones who feel something stir when they hear gravel under tires, or catch the scent of campfire smoke, or find an old photograph and suddenly forget what year it is. This work is a quiet altar of remembrance-and an invitation to belong, just as you are.
