Not when it's rendered well. :) Properly rendered tallow has a mild, neutral scent, though because it's a natural product, it can vary slightly from batch to batch. Our scented balms get their fragrance from essential oils, and if you'd rather skip fragrance altogether, we have unscented options too.

We're a family-owned business that has been making tallow skincare since 2017. Every batch is still handcrafted in our Midland, Texas workshop and at our Franklin, Tennessee store using grass-fed tallow sourced from farmers who use organic practices. We believe skincare doesn't have to be complicated, so we keep our ingredient lists simple: grass-fed tallow, a touch of unprocessed organic coconut oil, and essential oils that vary by blend. What began in a Texas kitchen has grown into storefronts in Midland, Lubbock, Fredericksburg, and our newest shop in Franklin, Tennessee.

A little goes a long way, and many people find it leaves their skin feeling soft and moisturized without feeling heavy. Everyone's skin is different, though, so if you're new to tallow, we recommend starting with a small amount and seeing how your skin responds before making it part of your routine.

A little goes a long way! Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it softens, then massage it into clean skin. We especially love applying it after a shower while skin is still slightly damp to help lock in moisture. It's great for your face, hands, elbows, knees, lips, or anywhere that's feeling a little dry and needs some extra nourishment.

Most of our balms are best enjoyed within about 6 to 12 months, depending on the blend. Store your jar in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. For the most accurate storage recommendations, check the individual product page online for the product you're using.

No. Flying Cow does not test our products on animals. We believe in thoughtfully made skincare and carefully selected ingredients, and we never test our finished products on animals.

Yes! We ship throughout the U.S. and to many international destinations. (Some countries have restrictions on skincare or animal-based products.) If you have questions about shipping to your location, we're always happy to help.

Our team will ensure all orders are processed, packaged and shipped within 1 to 3 business days. Once the package is on the truck, there is a 2 to 6 business day estimated arrival time.

If there is an issue with your product or order and you wish to return it unopened, we will send you a prepaid return shipping label. If you are local, you can return it to one of our stores. Unopened products may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of purchase.

Our Franklin store is located at 418 Main Street in historic downtown Franklin, directly across from the Franklin Theatre. It's our first Tennessee location and home to both our full skincare line and A Place for the Maker, our artisan collective featuring handmade goods from more than 20 makers. We're open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
