How to Turn Your Bathroom Into a Mini Spa
We all dream of a luxurious spa day, but the truth is - most of us don’t have the time (or budget) to book one whenever we’d like. The good news? With a little intention, you can transform your own bathroom into a spa-like retreat. Think of it as carving out a pocket of peace at home, even if it’s just for 20 minutes after a long day.
Here’s how to create your own at-home spa experience - simple touches, soothing products, and a routine that will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed.
1. Set the Mood
Ambience is everything. Start by dimming the lights or, better yet, lighting a candle. We love Haven by Lost Canyon, with its soft blend of bergamot blossom, amber, rose, patchouli, and sweetgrass. Its warm, grounding scent creates an instant sense of calm.
Grab a bluetooth speaker and queue up a relaxing playlist for soft, soothing background music. There’s tons of options from peaceful pianos to lo-fi tracks. These little sensory touches will set the tone for your mini spa session.
My personal favorites are Instrumental Worship 2025 or, when I’m missing nature, put this oat milk lattes in the mountains and sing along for maximum vibes.
P.S. - I highly recommend putting your phone on Do Not Disturb. Or even leave it plugged in in another room so you're not tempted to scroll. Just be present. The texts, emails, and TikTok notifications can wait.
2. Create a Short Skincare Routine
Start by giving your face a gentle cleanse to wash away the day. Then, take your skincare a step further with a gua sha stone or jade roller. These tools are often used to encourage lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness, and help your skin absorb nourishing oils or serums more effectively—all while adding a soothing, spa-like element to your routine.
Once your skin feels refreshed, use a Wiley Body roller in either the Relax or Uplift blend. A quick roll onto your wrists, temples, or behind your ears offers an aromatic moment to help ease tension.
To finish, nourish your skin with Bell’s Peace Balm. Rich, calming, and deeply moisturizing, this tallow-based balm is perfect for restoring softness and creating a moment of quiet care.
3. Upgrade the Bath or Shower
If you’re lucky enough to have time for a bath, add salts or a few drops of essential oils for a truly indulgent soak. But don’t worry - showers can feel just as spa-like with the right touch.
Hang a bundle of eucalyptus from your showerhead and let the steam release its invigorating scent. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and let the warmth melt away stress.
Why eucalyptus?
- 🌿 Clearing & refreshing – eucalyptus is often used to open up the sinuses and support easier breathing.
- 🌿 Invigorating – its crisp scent can help wake you up and boost alertness.
- 🌿 Stress relief – the grounding, spa-like aroma can ease tension and promote relaxation.
4. Add Comforting Touches
Little luxuries make the biggest difference. Wrap up in a Turkish robe from Oddbird - soft, airy, and cozy all at once. Sip on a cup of herbal tea or lemon water. Maybe even a nice glass of red wine (because let’s be real - sometimes self care tastes best in a stemmed glass 🍷).
Personally, I always grab my Kindle and read a little while I unwind. If I have a few minutes to soak in the bath, I can finish a chapter. Or waiting for my face mask to dry!
These small comforts remind you that your spa-at-home experience is more than just skincare - it’s about creating an atmosphere of rest.
5. End with Relaxation
When your spa session winds down, don’t rush back to “real life.” Instead, seal the moment with a final flourish: spritz on a Cayla Gray fragrance. If you’re not familiar with this brand, each Cayla Gray fragrance is crafted with clean, conscious ingredients. They are vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens, phthalates, and other harmful chemicals - so you can mist on confidence, not compromise.
If you have time - jot down a quick note of gratitude in a journal or simply sit for a few minutes in stillness. These mindful pauses turn a routine into something restorative.
I love to try and focus on three things that I'm grateful for from that specific day. Not generalizations or vague things, but three distinct moments that stand out from the day.
You don’t need a five-star spa or an entire day off to feel renewed. With a few intentional steps and a handful of thoughtfully chosen products, your own bathroom can become a sanctuary of calm. Start with one or two of these ideas and notice how even small rituals can shift the way you feel.
Your spa is just a few steps away - waiting right at home. ✨

Recently I’ve been ending my day with a little bit of sewing while listening to some worship music or a lord of the rings Lo Fi playlist. I used to love a good face mask too but haven’t found a clean brand that I love for that.

I have a teething baby at home so the most relaxation I’m getting is a 15 minutes shower. I try to add little luxuries like body scrubs or face masks here and there. I love eucalyptus! I used it to decorate the tables for my wedding. It looked and smelled amazing.

This is amazing. An epsom salt bath with a good book! As a busy mama of two littles— even a shower with eucalyptus helps me reset my nervous system when I don’t have much time. Just a few deep breaths and warm water. And of course my tallow and skincare routine !!

Taking a slow walk in the cool of the evening under a dusky sky immediately shifts my mind to a place apart from the demands of the day and the world. For a while, I let go of all the things that hold me and remember the One who watches over us all.

My way to relax is , after a long day doing some work outside my property, and a hot bath , I use my favorite and best wild orange tallow on my face and neck, then I just sit and relax outside my house ,with a glass of iced cold water and lime,or maybe a cold beer , and listen to the sound of silence, sometimes interrupted by a cricket or a feral cat, sometimes a small fox runs across the property, and a small deer comes out and roams around.but don’t forget to just give yourself a little time to relax every day

Ah, this post spoke to my soul! I didn’t realize how badly my bathroom wanted to be a spa until now. My favorite way to unwind at home is eucalyptus in the shower (total game changer), a clay face mask, and a giant mug of herbal tea while pretending my robe is a five-star hotel kimono.
Also, that tip about journaling 3 specific gratitude moments? Chef’s kiss. Now excuse me while I go hang some eucalyptus and rename my bathroom “The Zen Den.”

Being a single working mom of 3 kids, I rarely have time for self-care but in the rare moments that I get to unwind, I like to play soothing music, turn my oil diffuser on, light some candles and soak in the bath with a face mask on. Following the bath, I love to lather on lotion, slip into a robe and slippers and spend some (usually) much needed time on my skin care and do the things us busy momma usually skip over because we are in a rush. Could be anything from dermaplaning, jade roller to really taking time to use serums and moisturizers. Love the idea from the blog of not rushing back into our normal busy lives. Will definitely keep that in mind! Love your products!

For an at home spa feeling, I like to lock the bathroom door, (so that I’m not interrupted by a pup or anyone at home), turn on a hot shower for a little steam. Then spritz a couple of mists of my favorite essential oils to give my hot shower that spa scent and feel of relaxation as I inhale and exhale a few deep breaths. I may use a sugar scrub, rinse, then get out, pat dry, and use some coconut oil to moisturize my body, and Flying Cow Tallow for my face, neck, and decolletage.

I am a nurse on my feet 12-13 hours a day at work and then more at home. I love to run my bath as hot as I can stand with some Epson salt and eucalyptus and lavender oil and sit and soak while listening to spa music and the lights off with a candle going. Of course it is absolutely best when no one is home to hear the commotion outside the door but that doesn’t always happen. I love to read but find it hard to read in the bathtub. All I want to do is soak and relax. Afterwards, I drown myself in Flying Cow Tallow( still using the winter blend from last year) and get into my Soma pajamas and head to bed!
